Otto Puempel founded Puempel’s Olde Taverns in 1893! His family operated the pub for 99 years. During Otto’s childhood, Puempel was a railway workers’ boardinghouse where Bertha cooked. American taverns like Puempel’s are rare and “most impressive historic survivors.” Today’s Puempel’s Olde Tavern retains the 1893 travelers’ amenities, charm, and atmosphere.
